Chapter 11 – Chapter 11 – Vanessa’s Confession and the Price of Her Choices

Vanessa returned with her attorney and agreed to answer questions about the blue file. She admitted that Richard had never signed the authorization. Charles had arranged the document, and she had known the signature was not genuine.
She claimed the transfers were temporary and that she intended to repay the trust when the company recovered. But she had used part of the money to purchase assets through her own investment company. She had also hidden records and helped create the impression that Richard could no longer manage the property.
Alexander asked why she had laughed when his father fell. Vanessa said she had been angry and frightened. Her answer did not excuse the humiliation.
Brooks explained that the family could not promise immunity from legal consequences. Vanessa agreed to surrender disputed assets and cooperate with the investigation. Richard said he wanted the money returned and the scholarship fund restored. He did not want revenge, but he would not interfere with the law.
Alexander asked his father why he showed mercy. Richard replied that mercy did not mean trust. Vanessa still had to answer for her actions, but he would not spend his remaining years trying to destroy her.
The marriage ended. Vanessa moved out, and the remaining financial matters continued through legal channels. Alexander was left to face the consequences of his own choices as well as hers.
The mansion title was confirmed in Richard’s name. The trust would be managed independently. For the first time, Alexander accepted that he could not buy his way out of the damage.
